The adjustable shoulder straps can accommodate many hikers with varying heights and builds. Though the pack is ideally sized for light backpackers or young campers according to the manufacturer. The lumbar and chest strap help further distribute the weight of the pack and its contents across your body for added support and comfort. In addition to the main top-accessible storage compartment and sleeping bag compartment the Scout 3400 has several other smaller pouches and compartments useful for carrying and providing quick access to smaller tools or supplies. These pouches include a pair of zipper pockets on the side of the pack and one small zipper pocket on the top of the pack. Also present is a set of front and side mesh pockets. The Scout 3400 also has a dedicated pouch for storing an optional, separately purchased water bladder. In wet or rainy conditions, the attached rain-fly can be extended and used to keep your gear dry.
